Resources for Learners with Children
Are you balancing parenting and taking classes? Childcare support can ease the financial and time pressures student-parents face. Some colleges offer stipends or on-campus childcare facilities.
Make sure to complete the FAFSA or CASFA, and reach out to your college to explore available resources for parenting students.
It’s also a good idea to identify yourself as a student-parent early in the application process to find out what childcare support your school provides.
For additional childcare resources, visit the Colorado Department of Early Childhood for care facilities and assistance programs.
Active Military & Veterans Resources
If you’re using Veterans Affairs (VA) Education benefits or Department of Defense Tuition Assistance, the same rules apply for courses through Colorado Online as for those at your home college.
Each college has a Veteran & Military Student Services office that processes benefits and provides guidance on services available to you. Be sure to ask about any special requirements and check if there are limits on courses your benefits will cover.
Keep in mind that part-term courses and fully online enrollment may impact your Monthly Housing Allowance.
Basic Needs Resources
If you’re facing challenges such as food or housing insecurity, your college may offer support, including food pantries, emergency funds, counseling services, and community resource lists. Be sure to check your institution’s offerings. Below are additional resources from the State of Colorado that might help.
